Wow, DISCOVERYOPT folks keep impressing me more and more. I own several DISCOVERYOPT scopes and scope mounts, and I really like their design and build quality. So far, I did not have a single issue with any of their products, and this one is not an exception. I was expecting the same quality level from this scope mount, and it did not disappoint me. The overall build quality is excellent, it's on par if not better than Vortex, Burris, Bushnell, etc. products' quality in my opinion and at a fraction of the cost. I really like how they did all the cutouts in the base and rings to lower the overall weight without compromising the integrity of the mount. It's one of the lightest cantilever mounts I own, weighing merely 170 grams, but looks and feels rock-solid. I didn't have any alignment issues with the rings, and I did not need to lap the rings thanks to precision machining, index pins, and single-piece solid design of them. Though, I still expect that some people, being very particular about the scope fit, are still going to lap it a bit, which is totally unnecessary but not going to hurt either. The base of the mount uses 3 large Torx screws to securely clamp to a Picatinny rail plus 3 recoil stops that will guarantee that your scope will stay put and hold its zero under heavy high-caliber rifle recoil. I was particularly impressed by the fact that each scope ring has four index pins and uses six Torx screws (yes 6 screws on each ring, 12 in total!) to hold ring halves together providing exceptionally strong hold of the scope’s tube. This mount is really built like a tank to withstand anything! The only feature that I'm missing in the scope rings setup is a quick release mount. Another point for slight concern is that it's machined from lower-grade 6061 aluminum and not 7075, but this is a very solid and stable scope platform, and for the cost you can't go wrong.A bit of information about cantilever mounts. Cantilever scope mounts are designed to move optics out front and are specifically useful when you do not have a long enough Picatinny top rail. It is often used for flattop style AR-15 rifles with a short top rail or other similar rifle setups. The 2-inch offset of this cantilever mount relocates the scope a bit forward, supporting correct eye relief and head placement. This mount positions the center of the rifle scope tube at a height of 1.5 inches (38.1 mm) from the base, allowing you to mount the scope as close as possible to the rifle’s barrel. Also, and it’s especially important, the mount has a built-in 20 MOA “declination”, i.e. the mounted scope will be looking slightly downward (and barrel slightly upward). It’s specifically designed for long range shooting setup and provides you with fixed 20 MOA bullet drop compensation. Without this feature, you would have to move your scope reticle 80 clicks down to achieve the same 20 MOA compensation, which would limit the effective vertical range of adjustments of your scope. This is an extremely important feature for long range shooting and this mount will not work for mid and short range, make sure you understand this before ordering this mount!Pro-tip: Just make sure not to over-tighten the scope rings' screws when setting up your scope, and always use a torque limiting screwdriver with torque set below 25 in-lb. I personally prefer 20 in-lb, and it always holds up just fine. The mount also has the torque specs and screw tightening pattern printed on the scope rings for your convenience, though I think it's not necessary.Bottom line:The DISCOVERYOPT scope mount impresses with excellent build quality, lightweight design (170g), and strong grip thanks to precision machining and six Torx screws per ring. It's reliable under heavy recoil and ideal for long-range shooting with its 20 MOA declination for bullet drop compensation. While it lacks a quick release and is made from 6061 aluminum instead of 7075, it's a solid, affordable option. Best suited for AR-15 rifles with short top rails.Yes, I definitely recommend this rock-solid DISCOVERYOPT scope mount. The 2-inch offset supports correct eye relief and head placement, and the mount features a built-in 20 MOA bullet drop compensation for long-range shooting. It impresses with excellent build quality, lightweight design (170g), and strong grip thanks to precision machining and six Torx screws per ring. It's very lightweight yet and strong grip thanks to precision machining and six Torx screws per ring. The low profile allows to place a scope as close as possible to the barrel. The only thing I'm missing is the QD mount. But for the price of this scope mount, I'm not complaining at all. Solid 5 stars hands down.Pros:1. Rock-solid single-piece design.2. Precisely machined, no lapping needed.3. Low profile, only 38 mm from the base.4. Extremely lightweight, only 170 grams.5. Matte, non-reflective mil-spec finish.6. Designed for long-range rifle setups.7. Has built-in 20 MOA bullet drop compensation.8. Ha...
