DISCOVERYOPT MS 4X32-MOA Diameter:25.4MM Optics Scopes

I know this is meant for an air rifle so the idea of a Mil-Dot is kind of...weird, but, if you are going to provide a Mil-Dot reticle then at least make it usable. The photo shows the problem. If you are struggling to see the Mil-Dots, that's the problem!These are non standard Mil-Dot's. They can't be used for referencing like the real ones. These just mark the divisions if you can see them. On a usable system they are very clear and a specific size so the dots themselves can be used to measure. I struggle to see the dividing line and the dots themselves are too hard to see to be of any use other than being "cool".The scope itself seems kind of ok. The tube is spot on 1 inch so it fits standard rings. The whole thing however feels cheap and gimmicky to me.

Wow! Wasn't expecting the glass on this scope to be as nice as it is but man, am I impressed. Have this mounted on top of my Winchester air rifle with some good quality scope rings and it makes for a perfect set up. The scope covers seem pretty average but the scope itself seems very nice, I'm honestly pretty impressed for the value. Have shot with it on my air rifle and seems to be holding up nicely. Definitely a nice upgrade from my older, smaller scope set up. Highly recommend!

I got this scope to replace the (relatively dark) 4x15 scope that was included with my Daisy 880 air rifle. That scope made varmint hunting difficult. I wanted something brighter with more magnification.I was happily surprised that it comes with a very nice hinged, flip-up objective-lens-cover, and an ocular lens cap. The lens caps are only shown in one photo on the Amazon listing (and I didn’t catch that).This scope doesn’t include mounting-rings so you’ll need to bring your own 1” (25.4 mm) rings for whatever rail system you have (e.g. 11mm dovetail or Picatinny). The outside diameter of the objective housing tube and the ocular housing tube are both ~1-9/16” (40mm). Including the objective lens cap, the objective housing diameter grows to 1-3/4” 44mm. (I’m including these diameters in case you want to buy mounting rings that allow the scope to just barely set above any existing iron sights.)The main body's 1” tube extends by 1-7/16” (37mm) in both directions (fore & aft) of the erector (windage/elevation) segment. (I’m including this in case it helps you calculate how far forward or back you can mount the scope.According to the spec sheet, the eye-relief is 3.1” (8cm), which I confirmed. Eye relief is the (max) distance that your eye can be from the ocular lens in order to see a full picture with no scope-shadow on the edges. I mounted this scope, moved my eye to the perfect (maximum) distance to get a full picture and asked my son to measure the distance from the front of my eyeball to the ocular lens. He measured 8cm (3.1"). (I was surprised that it was EXACTLY the same as the spec.) I then moved my eye forward until I could no longer get a full picture. My son measured that as 6cm (2.4"). Ideally I'd want to shoot with my eye at 3.1" (8cm) but it's nice when you have some leeway to see the target when you first raise the rifle to your cheek before settling into the perfect eye-relief. I was able to set the scope and rings such that (even bringing the rifle to my cheek with my eyes closed) I usually get a natural cheek weld at 3.1" (8cm), but I'm happy about that 2cm of leeway for the occasions where I initially cheek-weld a little shorter.The windage and elevation adjustments can be done by fingers (no screwdriver needed) and the dials click soundly for ½ MOA adjustments. The protective caps are easy to remove and replace.The diopter adjustment is easy and works well.I sighted-in the scope and did some target practice. It was easy to sight-in, and it holds zero well. I'm very happy with it.Some reviewers say that they wouldn’t trust this scope on anything bigger than a 22LR. But I’ve had a similarly priced variable-magnification scope on my AR for several years (~600 shots) with no problems. However, 3.5" of eye-relief if generally considered the minimum for stronger recoiling center-fire rifles. This is just shy of that so it may be best suited for rifles with the recoil of a 22-magnum or less.

This scope provides a clear view and has good magnification. It's a smaller scope so it doesn't add much weight to whatever it's mounted on. The scope does not come with ring mounts, but is still a good scope for the price point. Overall very easy to adjust and focus. 👍

Update: 28-OCT-24: After multiple shooting sessions, I liked this scope so much that I bought a 2nd one to install on a Ruger American bolt-action .22 Magnum! That's confirmation of my 5-star rating!Original Review: First things first… I am NOT comparing this $36 scope (at time of review) to scopes costing hundreds, many hundreds, or even thousands of dollars. I have those scopes, and my wallet still cries at times when I open the gun safe.This is a well-built inexpensive, but high-value, 1” body-tube scope to put on a.22 rimfire plinking rifle or powerful airgun (not a toy). Discovery Optics has proven that budget-price does NOT (always) equal low quality!Six (6) power magnification is ideal for the intended market – that being “plinkers”, either rimfire or air gun. The 32mm Objective lens is larger than most in this price range. For the novices reading this, the larger the objective lens, the more light a scope can gather and present to the eyeball. This is especially critical in low-light situations (e.g., dawn, dusk, etc.) The glass is clear, as good as a side-by-side look comparison with $250~$300 scopes. The eye box is large enough to be forgiving of exact cheek-weld when shooting. It does not have an adjustable parallax; the parallax is set for 50 yards – which is appropriate for rifles intended. It comes with a good quality flip-up objective lens cover – similar to “name brand” units selling for $15~$20; the eyepiece cap is a simple slip-fit. I should note, many (if not most) scopes costing 3 to 5 times more do NOT come with flip-up covers appropriate for field use.The Mil-Dot reticle is crisp, clear, and fine – so to not obstruct the target. Unfortunately, Discovery Optics failed to provide any instructions on how to use a Mil-Dot reticle, and/or how THIS reticle is calibrated. Testing this scope on my range, I confirmed that EVERY mark is one Mil; both the dots and dashes. DASHES are every TWO Mils, the DOTS in-between are ONE Mil. Without clarification, a user might reasonably think the dashes were 1-Mil, and dots were ½.The attached table is something I quickly drafted to corelate target size (in inches) to image size (in Mils) to distance (in yards). For example, a 12” tall object appears to be 6.66 Mils tall when at 50 yards. If you were viewing a 6” tall soda can which appeared to be 2 Mils tall, it would be just over 80 yards away. I hope this helps someone.In summary, this is a high-value, low-cost scope to use for appropriate applications.

I got this scope for our kids’ Christmas presents, and it’s a decent one. It works well, and the installation was easy. You just have to put on the rings yourself, but that’s not too hard. Just make sure the scope is straight and tighten the screws evenly. The scope is clear and easy to sight in. The screw-off turret caps and raised adjustment knobs are easy to use and very user-friendly. Just a heads up, you might have to turn the knobs a bit more than you think. It was a few inches off the center when I got it, but that was because I had the raised 20 mm adapter. After a few clicks on the knobs, the point of impact barely moved. Then I cranked them like 2-3 times the number of clicks, and it was much closer to the desired position. However, be cautious because the clicks don’t have a significant effect. Therefore, my advice is to double the number of clicks you anticipate and proceed accordingly.. After that, the scope is accurate and seems to hold a zero even with a BB gun that doesn’t have much recoil to knock the scope around. My son does bang it around sometimes, though. The only two things I don’t like about it are that it’s not as compact as they say it is, and it doesn’t have focus adjustments for the lens. So, close-up things will be blurry, and at longer distances, the sight picture can look a bit fuzzy.Other than that, this is a good budget scope that I would trust for anything smaller than a .22 for hunting small game.

This scope is smaller than I had expected, probably built for pellet guns and .22 rifles. So I had to use smaller scope rings but no biggie. Good adjustment clicks, easy to dial in. Good sight box and eye relief, clear glass. Pretty well for a small pellet scope. I haven’t tried it with anything larger.

What can you say, at this price point you don’t expect much but the visibility is great and so far it has been super accurate.

This bad boy showed up in a box with a few other nick knacks like a cleaning cloth and a card that gave the details about the scope, great for info on the other stuff you'll need for it like scope rings and the like. Attaching it to my Beeman pellet gun it took it's sweet time before I managed to get it on paper, then sighted in. No biggie, probably a skill issue on my part. Problem is that after getting it sighted in the front scope cover broke. Not from being dropped, or anything mind you, the plastic ring that held it on simply broke making it fall from the gun. Annoying, though the scope itself still works fine and so far holds zero with little issue.

The first one was broke but got replacement in 2 days. So far it's fine kinda cloudy up close 15feet. But clear at 25yrds.

Super easy to attach and very precise and made extremely well

Nice, basic, starter scope. No strange bells and whistles. Sight is intuitive to use and easy to teach a new shooter to use. Makes ideal for a starter .22 rifle for a young shooter. Comes with flip up covers and other small items. Easy to mount and setup I found to be easy also. Was on paper fast and dialed in only after a couple shots.Good choice.

This scope is easy to install and easy to use. Very accurate. It's lightweight and for the price, it's a good investment. I recommend.

Have mounted up to a small 22 and so far seems to work nice. Holds true and has a nice crisp clear view. Accurate enough for everything I do with it, probably more so than the old piece it's mounted too. We'll see how long it holds up. Only thing I don't like is the rear lens cap is just a clip on instead of a flip, so you have to make sure you don't lose it

Good scope, it’s easy to use and see through its accuracy is right worth the price

... do they produce a scope with crystal-clear glass at this price point? Well...1. It's a fixed power scope, which makes it simpler to construct2. There is no illumination3. No rings are included4. Caps on the adjustment knobs (although higher-end scopes generally have "pop-up" adjustment knobs, I actually prefer caps)5. Second Focal plane scopes are generally a bit less expensiveand the number one reason...6. NO GIMMICKSLow-priced scopes with all the bells and whistles are generally of low quality -- that's a fact. DiscoveryOpt opted (ha ha) to make a quality, low-priced scope with crystal clear glass, and they did it the absolute right way. For a rimfire or similar firearm (I would not hesitate to use this on a 556 AR, personally) this is hard to beat.For what it is, what it does, and what it costs: Five StarsI am the Totally Unbiased Reviewer Dude (T.U.R.D.) and that is how I see it.
